Five Hair & Makeup Do's
for Spring 2006 by
Robert Carney
Prepare spring-summer skin & hair
rejuvenation! Add a few new touches to your makeup & hair routine for
2006 for a bit of glamour, detail, and not to mention-class.
Love Those Locks
2006 shall sport the two extremes, a sharp trend toward modern mod
looks, and a more shaped and refined "romantic" style. Mod meaning
cuter, shorter haircuts, reminiscent of a 1960's look. Romantic styles
include soft braids, chignons, double-buns and loose ponytails (high or
low). And for those of you who are sick of straightening, opt for
longer, looser waves for this year. Your hair can't be too long! Just
keep it trimmed and soft- you're in!
You Must Matte
Go natural while wearing makeup? It is possible to create your own
natural-looking skin. How to? Before you start, moisturize! Then, apply
a great new under-foundation primer product. This will keep your
bit-o-foundation from settling into fine lines. Now, you're ready for a
tiny bit of light foundation or tinted moisturizer (use it just where
you need it the most.) What's the result? An attractive, fresh,
naturally matte look!
To Bronze or not to Bronze
Lose the blush! Be in for 2006 with your fake tanned skin, but do it
right. With your bronzed skin, you'll be able to go with light tones
with the rest of your makeup. Remember to always begin with a light
moisturizer and foundation where needed to start. Then you bring out
your beauty with color with a bronzer. A bronzer applied strategically
with a fluffy blush brush down the cheekbones and around the hairline
will be enough to give you a natural looking glow. If you'd rather, you
can start with a light tanning crème, and set it with bronzing powder or
tinted moisturizer. The rule of thumb here: don't overdo it!
Go Nude and Shimmer
With your shimmery glosses, we say. Keep those wonderful neutral nudie
shades you've fallen in love with, they're still here to stay! You'll
see even lighter shades popping up as the year progresses. Less of those
ruby, brown and pink shades please! All of these great shades including
our concluding suggestions look great on tan faces and tan toes. If your
lips need a bit of plumping, keep in style and go for a lighter color in
matte. If you have thin lips, steer clear of pearly glosses! If you're
classy and ready to be hot topic, opt for red. If red is too hot for
your taste, can go for this season's freshest color, coral. Yes coral
gloss or coral lipstick (use your finger for a not-to-heavy look.)
Pucker up!
About the Eyes
Well, for 2006, you can use this rule: keep your eyes light even with a
bit of shimmer, especially with your tan skin. Or for a bit of drama,
try out a more colorful, smoky eye shadow. No smoky black eye shadow for
2006! Use a bit more smoky color in auburns, pinks, and navy. Keep your
kohl eyeliners and your standard black liner handy to line your
beautiful eyes. The look can be as soft or intense as you'd like it to
be.
And as for the lashes, spiders are out,
but enhanced lashes are in. What do we mean by enhanced? For those
fashion followers who want the authentic Asian trend look lash, your
only option may be natural looking fake lashes that are glued
individually at your lash base with glue. These can last up to a few
weeks. For the rest of us, your hope lies in a few layers of mascara.
Keep it natural!
